What People Are Saying About It

Vespers, I have to say Audio Weapons is easily the best music related investment I’ve made to date! The DEVASTATOR Drum Rack was worth the price of admission alone in my opinion (and I use NI Maschine)!

Jake Rivera (aka Sun in Aquarius) and owner of Enigmatik Records: www.enigmatikrecords.com

I have not been this inspired in music since I first started spinning and I am looking forward to using all your useful information on my journey into the production world.

Wacey (aka Buffalo Child Crier)

You’re one of the clearest teachers I’ve ever come across. You teach like I think. So it’s very easy to learn from you man. Well done. You have the right balance between politeness, clarity, detail and pace. 10 out of 10.

Dave Marcotte

Not only do you break things apart in an easy and comprehensive way but your videos have opened new doors for my approach on Live. I’ve been a Live user for almost 2 years and have never taken it to its full potential as I can now see is absolutely possible with your tutorials and techniques.

Vespers just “has it.” He knows the issues that will trip you up and has ready, easy-to-understand answers for those very questions. There were many little things that gave me “Eureka!” moments, but probably the single most valuable thing I learned is to see the track begin and end – to see the entire process from start to finish was invaluable. Highly recommended. I will sign up for any intermediate or advanced seminars Vespers chooses to give.

The course was phenomenal. I didn’t know I could learn so much in such a short time. The “gaps” I had in my production knowledge from self exploration over the past couple years were all filled in, from basic sound design, to midi programming, to mix down, and more. I feel I truly have foundational knowledge needed to use Ableton. I am excited to write/produce music again! Thank you Vespers! I look forward to participating in future courses. :-)

There were no “secrets” you were unwilling to share or explain. Great course, learned a ton, extremely gifted instructor, and producer. Thanks again!

Joe Ashlar

My formal training lies more along counselling and working with youth. It is with this training that I recognize—and very much appreciate—your approach with the design and implementation of this course. I have worked under and beside many professionals who could greatly benefit from observing not only your approach towards students, but also your approach towards human beings in general.

I found your Audio Weapons course an absolutely indispensable learning tool. A set of classes that I will, without doubt, be referencing daily and using as a spring board for many, many months to come. I can’t thank you enough for making this amount of your personal material, experience and explanatory, high quality HD videos available for such a reasonable fee.

Frequently asked questions

What skill level is this course?

Intermediate. You don't need to be a pro, but we do assume you're familiar with the basics of Ableton Live. If you are a total beginner with Live, start with a beginner level course, such as Synthesis 101.

Is this course applicable to my genre?

In a word - yes. The techniques we teach can be applied universally to virtually any electronic music genre.

How long can I access this course and the videos?

You have access to this course and the videos in your My Courses area for 12 full months after your purchase date.

How is this course different from previous Audio Weapons programs you've offered?

Many of our students have been asking for a version of Audio Weapons that includes purely the videos at a reduced price. So this is exactly the same as the previous versions, but without the interactive webinar portion.

What software and plugins do i need?

In this course we teach cross platform technique and approaches. This means you will be able to implement the techniques with virtually any setup. The following plugins are used, but are not necessary to gain knowledge from the course. We use Native Instruments Massive and Razor to create sounds, as well as some of the Fab Filter plugins (Pro-Q and Pro-C). Within Ableton, we use Operator, Amp and Sampler (these are all included with Ableton Suite and/or can be purchased individually).

What if I don't like the course?

We want you to be as excited about your course as we are. If for any reason you're not 100% happy with it, we offer a no-hassle, no-BS, super easy 30 day satisfaction guarantee. Any time within the first 30 days after purchase we will refund your money.

Can I submit questions to you via e-mail or social media platforms?

Our goal with this program is to keep the price as low as possible, so we are not offering support for questions. If you do have questions, or seek interactive coaching with our instructors, you can purchase a coaching module from the store. We will be offering e-mail support, small group coaching, and one-on-one training packages coming soon!

What version of Live do I need to use the course?

Ideally Live 8.2.2, although to gain full functionality, Live Suite is best. A demo of Live Suite available at http://ableton.com, though be sure and wait until the course begins if you go this route as it will expire after 30 days.

What if I don't have Live?

This is course is designed to teach concepts, and because of this, Ableton Live itself is not 100% necessary so long as you have a comparable DAW to work with.

What if I have trouble viewing the streaming videos?

Important: To get the best experience, we highly recommend you use the most updated version of Google's free Chrome browser. This functions best with our streaming video players: http://google.com/chrome

Can I download the videos?

No, but you have full access to all the video content for 12 months after signing up. You can also access the videos from virtually any mobile device.

Are there any system requirements?

Yes, a broadband internet connection and computer are required. Minimum requirements are obviously the ability to run Ableton Live 8 so any computer with Mac OS 10.5 & Windows XP or newer should do just fine.

Vespers is an excellent teacher – he’s patient, enthusiastic, detail-oriented, and very focused on giving you value for your money. I have not worked with other trainers before, but have worked through approximately 1 billion Youtube and other proprietary software videos in searching for the easiest and best way to make the kind of music that I want to make. Vespers just “has it.” He knows the issues that will trip you up and has ready, easy-to-understand answers for those very questions. He did not march to his own drum – he marches to your drum. And that is fantastic and rare to find. There were many little things that gave me “Eureka!” moments, but probably the single most valuable thing I learned is to see the track begin and end – to see the entire process from start to finish was invaluable.

Vespers’ seminar will give you a positive, focused boost in moving your understanding and knowledge forward so that you can not only learn how to do specific tasks like EQing an instrument, but also in how EQing that instrument affects other instruments, and how all of the work you do meshes together into a single, cohesive work of art – your tune. Highly recommended. I will sign up for any intermediate or advanced seminars Vespers chooses to give.

The course was phenomenal. I didn’t know I could learn so much in such a short time. Audio Weapons was exactly what I needed. I’ve been trying to get the top of this can of worms called Ableton for 2 years, and Vespers popped it right off. Everything was explained in a clear step-by-step fashion that made complex ideas, techniques, and sequences very easy to understand.

The “gaps” I had in my production knowledge from self exploration over the past couple years were all filled in, from basic sound design, to midi programming, to mix down, and more. I feel I truly have foundational knowledge needed to use Ableton and produce with a quality that would not only move a dance floor, yet satisfy my virgo perfectionism and fine tuned ears, that has often times left me frustrated in my quest for sounds and grooves that “hit the spot”. I am excited to write/produce music again! Thank you Vespers! I look forward to participating in future courses. :-)

I found your youtube videos to be highly informative, well put together, and professionally done. I felt the course would be a great way to delve into understanding and deepen my knowledge of production and Ableton Live.

You were an open book and thoroughly explained and demonstrated that which you taught and that which you were asked. There were no “secrets” you were unwilling to share or explain. None of this “do some something kinda like this, or just keep doing it and figure it out man” stuff. Very professionally put together, and lots of content to add to my own arsenal. The top things I learned were organizational strategies within Ableton Live (creating a template to maximize time efficiency and workflow), gain staging, and sound design techniques. Great course, learned a ton, extremely gifted instructor, and producer. Thanks again!

While music has always been a passion of mine, my formal training lies more along counselling and working with youth. It is with this training that I recognize—and very much appreciate—your approach with the design and implementation of this course. As you mentioned during your introduction to the course, the internet can be a very challenging medium in which to accurately convey information. My previous—and very informal—experiences with Ableton demonstrated both the powerful potential AND the ridiculously aggressive learning curve inherent in the software. I appreciate the holistic approach that you took whereby you utilized several different mediums to not only explain how something worked, but WHY it worked, including a tactile context by which to help consolidate the learning process.

One concept that was frequently hammered into my head while a counselling student was that the more neural connections that are engaged in a learning process, the more likely that memory retention will occur. I was certainly able to see this learning theory in practice as I experienced your holistic teaching approach. Your approach also honoured the notion that each person has their own unique combination of learning methods—taking a refreshing turn away from the lecture and board notes approach that I’ve seen too frequently within school systems. I also really appreciated that you often supplied—whenever possible—multiple solutions to reach the same aim or goal.

It’s fairly obvious that you’re very knowledgeable of the zen of creating music, using Ableton and other software. I also appreciated your ethical approach where you were willing to admit gaps, limitations, or motivations (e.g., full disclosure about 3rd party sponsoring) of your knowledge AND expressed a willingness to research or refer so that a satisfactory answer could be achieved. You did an excellent job in demonstrating to us students that you were here for our benefit (in addition to the above, including negotiation of discounts for 3rd party plugins, providing templates etc. that you yourself have designed).

You had a very humble approach. Nothing is worse when you have to put up with an egotistical maniac who just happens to be a genius in the subject in which you are hoping to learn.

At the most distant—though by no means insignificant—level, attending your course helped to further develop my enjoyment of experiencing music as I feel that I can see the structure and better appreciate the genius behind the notes (similar to watching/listening to a dj set). With respect to music production in general—and specifically using Ableton—there were so many concepts that I knew were technically possible but thought that the implementation was far beyond my ability. You used uncomplicated language when teaching your lessons really helped to make those previously obscure aspects of music production something that I am finally being able to wrap my head around.

I am now, by no means a musical genius, but at the least now when I work within Ableton I will have more purpose and drive to be able to place the music that I hear in my head onto paper as opposed to blindly tweaking buttons and knobs and really getting nowhere for my troubles. I have to say that I was VERY impressed with the diverse geographical locations of the students. You’re definitely getting heard and it is clear to me why after having taken your course!!! Thank you once again for the amazing opportunity. You have great skill as an instructor and teacher. I have worked under and beside many professionals who could greatly benefit from observing not only your approach towards students, but also your approach towards human beings in general.

I chose to take this course because I wanted to learn how to use Ableton a lot better then what I was shown and how to construct or structure a song from beginning to end from a professionals perspective. You were able to show and describe a lot thoroughly how and why certain things are used and why you used what you used to create or produce the song.

Also you described the reasoning of why you did it. The top things I learned in the program are: 1 How to use Ableton to it’s potential, 2 A general idea of why and how to use EQ’s, comps etc… to help with layering, 3 using your own sounds to create unique unknown sounds within Ableton.
